Miguel "Mike" A. Reyes

Miguel “Mike” A. Reyes, 69, a long time resident of Columbia Station, passed away suddenly surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Southwest General Main Campus, in Middleburg Heights. He was born April 2, 1954, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Mike was a graduate of Southview High School. Mike began his extensive career with the Columbia Township Fire Department when he was hired October 7, 1985. Mike was appointed assistant Chief In 2004. He was a fire investigator for the Lorain County Association of Arson Investigators for 17 years and was the vice president of the county team. Throughout his career mike also helped train new members on driving the fire engines and ambulances. He also worked in the office that oversaw new hires and participated in fire prevention classes at the Columbia Schools. Mike was also a chairman of Lorain County Water Shuttle for over 20 years, and was an active member with the Lorain County Fire Chiefs Association. Mike retired from the Columbia Township Fire Department on October 25, 2015, and retired as the Commissioner of Rocky River, after 30 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain. Mike Loved watching football, especially the Cleveland Browns. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Sharon Reyes; two daughters, Renee Faulkner, and Jodi Elek; four grandchildren, Megan Faulker (Cody), Steven Elek (Shannon), Morgan Elek, and Anthony Elek; his sister, Nilda Moralas (Louie); and his nephew, Israel (Tress). Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Julia Reyes. The family welcomes friends to join them Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 12pm to 5:30pm, with the service beginning at 5:30pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Father Charles Ryba will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia Station Fire Department.
