Patricia Custer Obituary

Patricia J. Custer (nee Bennett), 93, of North Ridgeville, formerly of Cambridge, OH, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side, on Wednesday March 31, 2021.  She was born June 15, 1927 in Cambridge and was a resident of North Ridgeville for many years. Patricia was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  As a young girl, she worked at her brother’s sundae bar in Cambridge.  She was also a well-known Guernsey County Marble Shooting Champion.  She saved all of her cherished winning marbles in a large glass pickle jar! After raising her children, Patricia went to work as a hostess at the former Eddy’s Chalet West Restaurant in North Ridgeville, a job that she dearly loved.  She was a life-member of the Auxiliary at VFW Post #9871 in North Ridgeville.  With her late husband, Robert, who was a former Post Commander of VFW Post #9871 in North Ridgeville, she enjoyed taking part in many functions that supported veterans and active duty military members.  She especially enjoyed participating in the North Ridgeville Memorial Day parades.  Patricia loved music.  A special memory of hers was when she saw Don Ho in concert at the Hawaiian Hilton Village and then meeting him backstage! She also loved the song “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond and she enjoyed seeing him in concert as well.  Patricia Custer is survived by: her children, Robert Custer, Susan Custer, Beverly Reichbaum (Marty), Kelly Custer, Julia Kleinholz (Gene), Sonya Huss, Casey Custer and Melissa Norman (Rich); 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by; her husband, Robert in 2002; her daughter, Virginia Comrie (David) in 2020; a grandson, Jeff Comb; her parents, Charles and Laura (nee Dean) Bennett; and siblings, Robert, Martha McCracken, Harold, Warne, Emmett, Harlan, Richard and Shirley Bogart.  A private visitation and funeral service will be held at Liston Funeral Home, North Ridgeville.  Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.  The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to North Ridgeville Community Care.
