Paul Matysiak Obituary

Paul L. Matysiak, 82, of Brooklyn, passed away January 18, 2024 at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.  He was born November 23, 1941, in Cleveland.  Paul was a proud graduate of West Tech High School and became a lifelong resident of Brooklyn where he raised his family and remained for more than 50 years. A skilled tradesman, Paul worked as a tool and die maker at Republic Steel, then General Motors (38 years) before retiring from the work he truly enjoyed in 2006.

Paul was a private man with a big heart and quick wit, who enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed traveling and outings with his family, doing projects around the house, tinkering with machines, cooking, and building things. A true family man. He was fascinated by history, tools, and machines of all kinds. Paul was always interested in learning new things, having fun, and making people laugh. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his six grandchildren. He provided an endless supply of loving wisdom, guidance, and humor along with his unconditional support and care as he watched them grow. It was his greatest joy.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Bobbi Matysiak (nee LaPlante); their two daughters, Kym Gopp (Andy), and Paula Jirousek; six grandchildren, Ethan (Paige), Hannah, Devin, Stephanie, Audrey, and Spencer; and his beloved sister, Jean Matysiak. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Antoinette Matysiak (nee Granzeier).

A private ceremony will be held at a later date at Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Olmsted Falls.
