Peggy Montgomery Obituary

Peggy A. Montgomery (nee Gregg), 76, of Kent, formerly of Lakewood, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at her residence following a battle with cancer. She was born May 10, 1946 in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, and was raised in Columbia City, Indiana. She had resided in Lakewood for 42 years prior to moving to Kent 4 years ago.  Peggy was a 1964 graduate of Columbia City Joint High School, and attended both Purdue University in Indiana and Cedarville University in Ohio. Early in her career she became the Assistant Food Service Director at Cedarville University. Peggy met her husband, Larry, at Cedarville, and after their marriage she became a stay-at-home mother.  After raising her family, she pursued an accomplished career in food service. For 12 years she was the Food Service Director at the Cleveland City Mission and then served in the same capacity at Skyview Ranch Christian Camp in Millersburg for many years. She also volunteered her food service skills at Faith Baptist Community Center in Cleveland. For over 40 years Peggy was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Westlake. She believed God’s Word, the Bible, and trusted Jesus as her Savior. In her spare time, Peggy enjoyed knitting, quilting, flower gardening, and growing African violets. Peggy was thankful for her beloved family. She is survived by: her husband of 54 years, Larry; her daughter, Molly Loughry (Korey) of Kent; her son, Gregg (Jeannie McCabe) of Columbus; two grandchildren, Nathan and Kaylie; two sisters, Beverly Foulkrod of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, and Laramie Niccum of Middlebury, Indiana; her Auntie Carole Binkley of Columbia City; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, James R. and Leona Gayle (nee Hawn) Gregg. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 16, 2022, from 1:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church, 23096 Center Ridge Road, Westlake, as well as at a reception immediately following. Pastor Steve Strong will officiate the service. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Skyview Ranch and Mission Aviation Fellowship.
