Raymond J. "Ray" Grega

Raymond J. “Ray” Grega, 93, of North Ridgeville, passed away on Thursday March 19, 2026 in the Emergency Room at UH St. John Medical Center in Westlake.  He was born August 20, 1932 in Avon.  Mr. Grega lived for most of his life in North Ridgeville and graduated from North Ridgeville High School where he was a star athlete in both football and basketball.  He was a veteran and served in the US Army from 1953-1955.  Ray was a sheet metal worker and was employed by the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #33 in Cleveland for over 30 years and retired in 1994.  Farming was his true passion and he farmed on the side, for most of his life.  Ray, and his late wife, served together and were actively involved for many years with the North Ridgeville Sports Boosters. They were both honored by the North Ridgeville Corn Festival for their outstanding community service and received the Golden Kernal Award.  Ray also enjoyed growing tomatoes and giving them to his family and friends.  Raymond Grega is survived by: his three sons, Mike Grega (Maria) of Lorain, Jeff Grega (Lucy) of Lorain, and Randy Grega (Ginnie) of Elyria; two grandchildren, John Grega (Heather Robertson), and Amber Mills (Rob); a sister-in-law, Audrey Grega; and a brother-in-law, Dale Austin.  He was preceded in death by: his beloved wife, Dorothy (nee Ramsey) in 2020; his parents, Andrew and Mary (nee Vitaz) Grega; and two brothers, Robert and Andrew Grega.  The family will receive friends on Thursday March 26, 2026 from 5-8pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville.  The Funeral Service will be Friday March 27, 2026 at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Chuck Behrens officiating.  The burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon, where full military honors will be observed.  The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Samuel L. Felton Jr. Valor Home (offering transitional housing for homeless veterans), 221 West 21st Street, Lorain, OH 44052.
