Rev. George Y. Pease (83 yrs old) of Olmsted Township passed from this earthly life into his heavenly home on Saturday evening, November 21st, 2020, after several months battling with his health. He is now singing his favorite song, “Victory in Jesus” in the presence of His Lord. George was born to Daniel and Mildred Pease of Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1937. As a young adult he took over his dad’s business, Pease Costume Shop, which he ran in conjunction with a General Store for many years. At the age of 39, George felt called to the ministry and moved his family to Minnesota to attend Central Baptist Seminary. As a Baptist minister Rev. Pease pastored churches in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Ohio. He loved preaching and studying God’s Word, and served His Lord and Master for over 40 years in the pulpit. In the last 15 years he was also lovingly known throughout Columbus and Olmsted Township as “Grandpa George” due to his side home maintenance business. He enjoyed helping those in need of repairs and was self-taught in many areas. Collecting Lionel trains was a hobby he enjoyed from his childhood on, and it gave him many hours of pleasure. George is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 63 years, Carol; his 5 daughters, Beth LaPage (Dana) of Bradenton, FL; Jennie Durant (Michael) of Belle Plaine, MN; Karen Helfinstine ( David Sr.) in Farmington, MN; Amy Muck (Bradley) of North Olmsted, OH, and Joanna Ridgeway (Randy) in Hilliard, OH; plus additionally 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. A private burial will be held at Watkins Cemetery in Ostrander, Ohio. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
