Richard R. Dillon, 68, of North Ridgeville passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 3, 2020. Richard was born February 16, 1952, in Toledo, Ohio. He lived most of his adult life in Findlay, Ohio, where he was a lifelong educator. He was a teacher for 14 years for McComb Local Schools, a principal at Vanlue Local Schools for 2 years, and a principal for the Riverdale Local School District for 2 years. He ended his educational career as the principal of Lincoln Elementary School in Findlay City Schools for 15 years. He cherished the opportunity to make an impact on kids’ lives every day. Richard was actively involved in the community as a former president of Findlay Youth Baseball, a varsity basketball coach at McComb, and a coach of multiple youth sports teams involving his 3 sons. After retirement, he moved to North Ridgeville to be closer to his beloved grandchildren. He continued to coach and began volunteering his time as a tax preparer for AARP. Richard enjoyed cooking family meals, attending sporting events with his family, and spending his time at the lake. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Viola Dillon (Ryan) and his sister, Fran Beach. Richard is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn; sons Ryan (Shannon) of North Ridgeville, OH, Mark (Kim) of Downers Grove, IL and Matt (Danielle) of Rocky River, OH; grandchildren Brennan, Quinn, Henry, Nathan, Cecilia, Luca, George, and Corrine; and sisters Barbara and Eileen Dillon. Due to current gathering limitations, a Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
