Robert Wayne Benton, 74, passed away Sunday January 28, 2024 at Momentous Health in Richfield. He was born in Elyria on March 5, 1949. Mr. Benton resided in Lorain County for many years and also formerly resided in Parma and North Olmsted. He was a 1967 graduate of North Ridgeville High School and he received his associate’s degree from Lorain County Community College in 1981. Before retiring, Mr. Benton worked as a machine operator at Snow Manufacturing in Independence and then in the shipping and receiving department at AGA, also in Independence. He formerly attended Bethany Assembly of God in Parma, where he served as an usher. Robert enjoyed woodworking, camping, the outdoors, and when he was younger he loved playing baseball. He is survived by: his daughter, Laura Serwatka (Lenny) of South Euclid; two sons, Paul Benton of Akron and Michael Benton (Rachel) of Winder, Georgia; two grandchildren, Justin and Megan Folliett; his sister, Janice Boak (Cliff) of Georgetown, Texas; his brother, Rodney Benton (Patty) of Phoenix, Arizona; and his former wife, Pauline Spernoga (Tom) of Parma. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Doris (nee Stegman) Benton. The family will receive friends on Thursday February 1, 2024 from 4 to 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. The Funeral Service will be Friday February 2, 2024 at 9:00am at the funeral home with Pastor David Swartz officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Moody Bible Institute of Chicago, Il.
