Robert T. “Bob” Hilsmeier, 93, of Avon, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 23, 2022 at his residence. He was born November 7, 1928 in Huntingburg, Indiana. Bob had resided in the Cleveland area since 1969 and for many years in North Olmsted. He was a graduate of Indiana University. For over 25 years, Bob and his wife Fran, owned and operated a Tupperware franchise in Westlake and North Ridgeville. He was a member of the Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC), the Avon/Avon Lake Rotary Club, Boy Scouts of America, Kiwanis, formerly a church board member and Sunday school teacher at Church of the Open Door in Elyria, and volunteered at UH Elyria Medical Center. Bob was currently attending Bay Presbyterian Church in Bay Village. Bob was well known for his talent in playing the trumpet. He shared his talent with the Shriner’s Circus Band, the Patriots Symphonic Band, Bay Village Community Band, and the Good New Messengers. He is survived by: his wife, Frances “Fran” (nee Todrank); four daughters, Janet Abel (David) of Arizona, Karen Mpitsos (George) of Oregon, Lois Koehler (Craig) of Avon and Robin Hilsmeier of North Ridgeville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joy Tredway (Richard) of Evansville, Indiana and Ann Harding (John) of Banning, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Friedarika (nee Stork) Hilsmeier. The family is planning for a Celebration of Life Service to be held at a future date and suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to CBMC Inc., P.O. Box 8009 Chattanooga, TN 37414-0009.
