Rosalie M. Gainer (nee Bacso), 85, of Elyria OH, passed away on Sunday August 27, 2023, under the care of Suncrest Hospice, at Brookdale Senior Living in Westlake. She was born August 23, 1938 in Elyria and was raised in Fairport Harbor where she graduated from Harding High School. Rosalie then went on and furthered her education, graduating from Ohio University in 1960 with a BS Degree in Home Economics Education. She taught at Midview High School and then for many years at Avon High School, retiring in 1993 with 30 years in education. Rosalie was a talented musician and she enjoyed playing both the piano and organ. For a total of 50 years, she served three Elyria congregations as organist, Magyar United Church of Christ, St. Paul United Church of Christ and Washington Avenue Christian Church. She also performed throughout Ohio and gave several concerts on the Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield. Rosalie also played for many civic and community organizations, countless weddings and funerals, and she served as the organist at Liston Funeral Home for several years. She was also a past Grand Organist of the Grand Chapter of Ohio, Order of the Eastern Star. Rosalie is survived by: her husband of 61 years, James; two sons, Mark (wife, Elizabeth Eastwood) of Strongsville and Todd of Ashburn, VA; her grandson, Andrew; a niece, Lynn Jereb (nee Pullar) of Aurora; and a great niece, Leah Jereb of CA. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Rev. Bela and Ida (nee Tarczali) Bacso; and her three sisters, Lynn Pullar, Elizabeth Bacso and Ida Hahn. The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation on Wednesday September 13, 2023 from 5:30 to 8:00pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. A private committal service will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
