Sammy Joe Belfiore, 72, a long time resident of Newcomerstown, passed away surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. He was born May 12, 1950, in Niles, Michigan. Sammy was a veteran of the United States Army, and a member for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters for over 40 years. He worked for Schirmer Construction LLC for 35 years, before retiring. He loved to spend time with his wife and friends at the Moose Lodge 1337, and the American Legion Post 431, both in Newcomerstown. Sammy also enjoyed caring for his pets, hanging out in his game room, maintaining the house and yard, and fixing things. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Laura Belfiore (nee Grills); four daughters, Mary Dixon (Jim), Samantha Belfiore-Smith (Charlie), Missi Cagle (Xavier), and Heidi Belfiore (Jessie); six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Mahlich, and Toni Willis; and many nieces and nephews. Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Delores Belfiore; his granddaughter, Amber, and his sister, Donada. The family welcomes friends to join them Monday, March 6, 2023, from 5pm to 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. The funeral service will begin Tuesday March 7, 2023, at 11:30am. Family friend Nick Iafigliola will conduct the service. Burial will be held at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuscarawas County Humane Society.
