Sharon L. Leppien (nee Shoemaker), 66, of Sheffield Lake, passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2019 at her residence. She was born December 26, 1952 in Cleveland. A life-long resident of Lorain County, Sharon was a 1971 graduate of Midview High School and she was a State Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at Rae Ann Skilled Nursing Center in Westlake and was the manager for Madison Development at the Academy Court Apartments in Elyria. She was a member of Abundant Life Christian Center in Elyria. Sharon enjoyed gardening and she was an animal lover. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Sharon is survived by; her son, Sean Rishel (Jennifer) of Elyria; two grandchildren, Eric and Hannah Rishel; her step-mother, Leona Shoemaker of Accident, Maryland; her half-sister, Debby Francis of Florida; two nieces, Michelle Shoemaker of Florida and Trena Williams of Sandusky; and by one nephew, Butch Lynch of Tennessee. She was preceded in death by; her Mother, Grace Shoemaker in 1977; her Father, James Shoemaker in 2018, and by three brothers, James J. and Dennis M. Shoemaker, both in 2002 and by Steve Whittington in 2018. The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 5, 2018 from 5pm until the time of a Memorial Service at 7pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Pastor Jerry Harper will officiate. A Committal Service will be held on Wednesday at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Friendship Animal Protective League of Lorain County.
