Shirley Buckland

Shirley A. Buckland (nee Thomas), 81, a life-long resident of Elyria, passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on January 21, 2020, at her residence. She was born August 8, 1938 in Long Branch, West Virginia. Shirley retired from the housekeeping department at Elyria Memorial Hospital after 25 years of service. She enjoyed gardening and reading her James Patterson mystery novels.  Shirley loved her family dearly and spent as much time with them as she could. Shirley is survived by: her eight children, Randall (Pat), Allen, Robert, Raymond (Karen), Todd (Marianne), Deborah, Edwina (Mike), and Julie (Ed); 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and by her brother, Glenny Lafferty. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Randolph Buckland in 2010; by her sister and best friend, Patty in 2019 and by several other brothers and sisters. The family welcomes friends to join them on Tuesday January 28, 2020 from 11am to 1pm with a service beginning at 1pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. Her grandson, Matthew Hogue-Smith MA PTM, will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
