Shirley A. Payne (nee Gillispie), 70, of Columbia Station, passed away at her residence on Friday January 15, 2021 following a long illness. She was born October 30, 1950 in Logan, West Virginia. Mrs. Payne had been a Lorain County resident for many years and since 2008, she and her husband have been splitting their time between Columbia Station and Meigs County, Ohio. She was employed as an assembler at The Marsh-Allen Company in Cleveland for 22 years and retired in 1996. Shirley enjoyed sewing, shopping, flower gardening and cooking for her family and others. She also loved her grandchildren and treasured spending time with them. Shirley A. Payne is survived by: her husband of 50 years, John; her daughter, Jeannine Hooley (Brian) of Columbia Station; three grandchildren, Morgan, Paige and Chase; a sister, Annette Trent (Doug) of Wilkinson, West Virginia; a brother, Woodrow Gillispie (Vicki) of Bruno, West Virginia; a sister-in-law, Kim Gillispie of Christian, West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in by: her son, John Payne Jr. in 1979; her parents, Harvie and Lovadis (nee McDaniels) Gillispie; and a brother, Donald Gillispie. The family is planning to hold a memorial service in the future. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to either the Arthritis Foundation or to the National Heart Association.
