Shirley L. (Howell) Viall

Shirley L. Viall (nee Howell), 87, of Ashtabula, passed away Saturday August 10, 2019 at her sister’s home in North Ridgeville.  She was born February 9, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri.  Shirley had been a resident of Ashtabula for many years.  She worked as a telephone operator for 30 years and retired from Alltel.  Prior to working for Alltel, she worked at Reliance Electric in Ashtabula.  Shirley was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula, Order of the Eastern Star Covered Bridge Chapter #591 and of T.O.P.S.  She was a volunteer at Ashtabula County Medical Center and was the volunteer’s representative to the hospital’s board of directors.  She enjoyed golfing, bowling, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren.  Shirley Viall is survived by: two sons, James Viall (Ann) of Willoughby and John Viall (Amy) of Crescent City, CA; one daughter, Debbie Easton (Shane) of Honolulu, HI; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Jenni, Russell, Daniel, Shawna, Deven and Crystal; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Patricia Viall (Ernie) of North Ridgeville and Sharon Henson (Donald) of Desloge, MO; and by many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by: her husband, Harry H. Viall; one son, Jeffrey Viall; her parents, William and Gertrude (nee Lewis) Howell; one brother, Eddie Howell; and by one sister, Dorothy Puckett.  The family will receive friends on Monday August 19, 2019 from 11am until the time of the funeral service at 12:30pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.  Pastor James Beight from Abram Creek Baptist Church in Brook Park will officiate the service.  A committal service will be held on Tuesday August 20, 2019 at 11:30am in the chapel at Greenlawn Memory Gardens in North Kingsville.  Rev. Mark Mong from Trinity Presbyterian Church will officiate the committal service.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memroail contributions be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church in Ashtabula.
