Steve Bentz, 95, a long time resident of Sheffield Lake, passed away Tuesday October 6, 2020 peacefully in his sleep at his home. He was born on February 11, 1925 in Cleveland. Steve was a WWII Army veteran, serving his country from 1943-1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal. Steve worked as a welder for 38 years for the General Battery Corporation. He enjoyed spending time in his garage tinkering, and was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Sheffield Lake. Steve is survived by: two children, Mark, and Denise; three grandchildren, Stephen, Abigail, and Marissa; his sister, Helen; and by many other family members who loved him. He was preceded in death by: his Wife of 46 years, Eileen Bentz (nee Stuller). A private family service will be held at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans foundation at dav.org.
