Stewart Charles Knapp Jr., 69, also known as “Chuck” to family, friends, and the North Olmsted and Westlake communities was called home by the Lord on 7/4/2026 at Malachi House of Cleveland following a four year journey of Stage 4 Lung and Bone Cancer. Chuck was a close childhood friend and caring husband of Jacqueline Sue Knapp “Jackie” (nee Piro); loving father of Jason Stewart Knapp (40) and Nichole Ashley Knapp (32); humorous brother of Denise Knapp-Townsend (Lee) and Shelley Knapp-Moore (Charles); and uncle of Amanda “Mandy” Townsend, Stacey Nicastro-Moore, Shane Moore, Ronald and Jeffrey Kurpik, Michele Clarke, Jennifer Arceneaux, Jessica White, and Jacque White.

Chuck was born on March 25th, 1957 in Westlake to his parents Stewart Charles Knapp Sr. and Beverly Faye Knapp (nee Clark). Chuck’s father served in World War II from 1938-1946 and proceeded him in death in 1968. Chuck’s mother struggled with a cancer battle of her own and proceeded him in death in 1985. Chuck was a Westlake High School graduate from Class of 1975. Chuck was no stranger to pain and heartbreak when he lost his parents at the young age of 10 and 24 years old. Chuck struggled through his life with that pain and at the end of his life used that pain to channel strength to fight a very intense cancer battle of his own. Chuck fought hard with the amazing support of his family, UH Seidman Cancer Center Team, and the staff of Malachi House.

Chuck was a well-known, respected, and long-term employee of Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted, Ohio as the Director of Security and Public Safety Operations for over 40 years. He was an avid fisher and golfer, and enjoyed being outside in the fresh air and walking through Clague Park with man’s best friend. In remembrance of him, Chuck has asked those who he knew well to fish for him as it was his most peaceful joy. A memorial service will be planned in the near future.
