Tom L. Strickland, 74, of Elyria, passed away Sunday February 27, 2022 at his residence. He was born April 21, 1947 in Widen, West Virginia. Tom was a 1965 graduate of Midview High School and resided in Lorain County for most of his life. He worked as a district manager for Burger King for 15 years. Also, along with his wife, he owned and operated Sidelines Grille in Elyria. Tom was a member of the NRA and he supported the mentoring of young people through the organization. Tom also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons. He is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Carol (nee Lee); his daughter, Monica Elliott (Deb); two sons, Douglas (Jessica) and Chad (Michele) Strickland; six grandchildren, Thomas (Samantha) and Bradlee Elliott, Cassandra Hughes (Dan), Brittanie (Alex) and Brett (Sierra) Strickland, and Brookelynn Kurta (John); three great-grandchildren, Brock and Olivia Elliot and Zoey Kurta; and one sister, Beverly Thompson (the Late Allen). He was preceded in death by: his parents, Nelson and Lucille (nee Nutter) Strickland; and by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Baxter and Frances Lee. The family will receive friends on Saturday March 5, 2022 from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road (at Stoney Ridge Road), North Ridgeville. Rev. Christine Vanderbilt, chaplain with Hospice of the Western Reserve, will officiate the service. Burial will be private at Butternut Ridge Cemetery in Eaton Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of the Western Reserve.
