Vera J. “Jean” Woodyard (nee James), 89, of LaGrange, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday May 24, 2020 at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange, very peacefully while her daughter was holding her hand.  Mrs. Woodyard was born on June 22, 1930 in Glenville, West Virginia.  She had been a Lorain County Resident for many years.  Mrs. Woodyard was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a faithful member for many years of First Baptist Church of Elyria and formerly a member of Faith Baptist Temple in North Ridgeville.  She served many years as a Sunday school teacher.  Mrs. Woodyard was also a former Girl Scout leader and volunteer at Elyria Memorial Hospital.  She enjoyed quilting and made many quilts over the years for her grandchildren and their families.  Jean Woodyard is survived by: Her daughter, Shirley Carroll (Roger) of LaGrange; three grandsons, Jason Carroll (Rose Merendino) of Shaker Heights, Sean Carroll (Jennifer) of Lakewood and Nicholas Carroll (Tina) of LaGrange; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene Whisman of Reidsville, N. Carolina and Karen Hahn (Carl) of Grafton; and by four brothers, Gerald James of Glenville, West Virginia, Hill James (EmmaJean) of Normantown, West Virginia, Hugh James (Dolores) of Cedarville, West Virginia and Roland James (Kaye) of Glenville, West Virginia.  She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Robert “Bob” Woodyard in 2005; her parents, James M. and Macel P. (nee Whitesel) James; a brother-in-law, Cleveland Thomas Whisman Jr.; and by a sister-in-law, Wilma James.  The family will receive friends on Friday May 29, 2020 from 11:00am until the time of the funeral service at 11:30am at First Baptist Church, 11400 LaGrange Rd., Elyria.  Pastor Patrick Odle will officiate the service.  Social distancing guidelines will be observed.  Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Avon.  The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Christian School in Elyria.
