Paul A. Ross

Paul A. “Poppy” Ross, also known to many friends as Rocky, 85, of North Ridgeville, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016 at his home following a short illness.  Paul was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on November 28, 1930.  He was a North Ridgeville resident for 45 years.  Paul was a graduate of the University of Scranton. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. He spent 40 years working as a truck driver, and retired as an owner/ operator in 1990.  Paul was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville and Teamsters Local #407.  Paul enjoyed playing sports and spent some time as an amateur boxer, both as a Golden Glove boxer and in the Air Force.  While in the Air Force he was the All Service Lightweight Boxing Champion.  He also enjoyed singing and karaoke, and watching baseball. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanne (nee Wetter); 4 daughters, Anne Marie Ross of North Ridgeville, Christine Sunkel (Earl) of LaGrange, Maxine Ross of North Ridgeville and Niccole McEwen (Curtis) of Avon; 7 grandchildren, Lisa, Danny, Corey, Earl, Chad, Noah and Aria; 7 great grandchildren, Brandon, James, Addison, baby boy Peepers, Khloie, Alexis and Kalub; and one brother, Frederick Ross of Scranton, Pennsylvania.  He was preceded in death by one daughter Donna Agnes Ross; 3 brothers, Joseph, Eugene and Edward Ross and his parents Frederick and Margaret Ross.  The family will receive friends Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd. (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville.  A prayer service will be held Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:20am at the funeral home, followed by an 11:00am funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville.  Rev. Robert Franco, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery in North Ridgeville.
